SPARTANBURG, SC -- The Southern Conference today named Wofford’s Howard Wilkerson as the Anaconda’s The Rock Player of the Week for games played between February 14-20.  It’s the first honor for Wilkerson this season and his fourth career honor.

Wilkerson, a 6-6, 250 pound forward from Eden, NC, scored a career-high 30 points and added 10 rebounds in the Terriers’ win over Georgia Southern this past Saturday, becoming the first Terrier in three years to score 30 points in a game.  The senior was 10-of-13 from the floor (77 percent) and 10-for-14 (71 percent) from the free throw line.  Wilkerson also added five steals, four assists and a pair of blocks, all season highs.

Others considered for the Player of the Week award included College of Charleston’s Josh Jackson (25 points and a career-high 12 rebounds against Georgia State), Chattanooga’s Charles Anderson (15 points and eight rebounds in win over Appalachian State), Davidson’s Ian Johnson (20 points and career-high four 3-pointers in win over Furman), Elon’s Colin Wyatt (season-high 21 points in overtime loss to Western Carolina), Georgia Southern’s Will Dunn (12 points and five rebounds in loss at Wofford), UNC Greensboro’s Kyle Hines (29 points and 11 rebounds in overtime loss at Saint Peter’s) and Western Carolina’s Corey Muirhead (25 points and six rebounds in overtime win over Elon).
