SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? The Southern Conference announced today that Chattanooga’s Matt Keller has been named the Wrestler of the Week for the week of December 6.

Keller, a senior from McDonald, Tenn., helped lead the Mocs to an eighth-place finish at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational over the weekend.  He went undefeated in the 133-pound bracket to take first place.  In the finals he defeated the 2006 133-pound national champion Matt Valenti of Pennsylvania, 9-7 in overtime.  The victory marked the second national tournament win during his two seasons at Chattanooga.

On the week, Keller went 5-0 with two major decisions and improved to No. 2 in the InterMat national rankings after his performance last week.

Other top performers include Appalachian State’s Terreyl Williams, The Citadel’s Travis Piccard, Davidson’s Marcus Boyd, UNCG’s Chris Bencivenga and VMI’s Sam Alvarenga.
