SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? The Southern Conference announced today that Chattanooga’s Alex Anderson has been named the Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Dec. 19.

Anderson, a junior from Stone Mountain, Ga., recorded two double-doubles to help the Lady Mocs win the Paradise Classic over the weekend in Hawaii.  The forward tallied 18 points and 13 rebounds, including seven offensive in Chattanooga’s 81-61 win over Portland State on Friday.  She scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the Lady Mocs 65-62 victory over tournament host Hawaii on Saturday. 

For the week, Anderson averaged 18.0 points and 11.5 rebounds per game.  She also added four blocked shots and one assist.  She was selected as player of the week for the week of Nov. 21.

Other top performers include Appalachian State’s Whitney Tossie, College of Charleston’s Jill Furstenburg, Davidson’s Danielle Hemerka, Georgia Southern’s Carolyn Whitney, UNCG’s KaLeah Latham, Western Carolina’s Chevon Keith and Wofford’s Liz Miller.
