Wofford 3, Winston-Salem State 0

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- The Wofford volleyball team finished with a .310 hitting percentage and nine service aces en route to a 3-0 (30-27, 31-29, 30-14) victory over the Winston-Salem State Rams Wednesday night at C.E. Gaines Center.

Wofford (7-20, 1-16 SoCon) recorded a .317 clip in game one to go up 1-0, but the Rams refused to give up and jumped out to a 23-19 lead in game two. The lead was short-lived, however, as the Terriers went on a 9-2 scoring run and hung on to a slim lead to take the second game. After the narrow victories, the Terriers put away the Rams in game three with a .400 team hitting percentage.

Lindsey Richardson led Wofford with 14 kills on 26 attempts to finish with a .462 clip, her highest mark since the Oct. 7 match against Davidson (.556). Richardson also assisted on four of Wofford’s five blocks, giving the freshman 34 for the season.

Libero Shana Glenn recorded a team-best 12 digs which gives her 322 for the season ? also a team high ? and moves the senior to fourth on Wofford’s career digs list. Glenn also added a kill and a service ace, her career-best 34th ace of the season.

Freshmen Sarah Palmer and Courtney Gregory finished with 10 kills and one service ace apiece. Palmer’s 10 kills on 22 attempts added up to a career-best .409 clip.

Freshman setter Joanna Suddath also achieved a career-high .778 hitting percentage, finishing with seven kills on nine attempts. Suddath served up 42 assists, just three shy of her career best, but the most by any Terrier in a three-game match this season.

Winston-Salem’s Annika Barnwell tallied 10 service aces including two runs of four and five consecutive scores.

Kendall Sutton’s nine kills was a team high for the Rams (2-29), as was her .409 hitting percentage.

Wofford will travel to Chattanooga on Nov. 12 for its final game of the regular season. The team will participate in the Southern Conference tournament starting Nov. 16 in Boone, N.C.
