College of Charleston 3, Georgia Southern 1

STATESBORO, Ga. ? The Georgia Southern volleyball team battled back to take game three, but couldn’t hold on to the lead in the fourth game, falling to College of Charleston 3-1 (30-20, 30-22, 22-30, 30-25). 
 
“We knew going into to tonight that it was going to be a tough match against a great team, but I thought we played well and did some really nice things offensively and defensively,” said head coach Nicole McCray.  “I’m very proud of my team because even though we lost, we fought the entire match.”
 
Christy Dowd led the Eagle offense, posting 13 kills and recording 11 digs.  Jennifer Charles and Bailey Coleman both tallied 11 kills in the four-game match.  Georgia Southern posted five team blocks, with six block assists coming from Jennifer Schenk and Gorana Bacic, four in the fourth frame.  Staci Anderson recorded 19 digs at libero. 
 
The Cougars held Georgia Southern to a .203 hitting percentage, and managed a .261 themselves.  Two Cougar hitters posted hitting percentages over .400 ? Sarah Voss (.419) and Annie Uthe (.455).
 
The Cougars improve to 19-7 (13-1) on the season, while the Eagles fall to 11-11 (5-9).  Georgia Southern takes to the road this weekend for the final away series of the season.  On Saturday, the Eagles will travel to UNC Greensboro, and will wrap up on Sunday at Elon.
