SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? The Southern Conference announced today that College of Charleston’s Marie Dobrenz has been named the Molten Volleyball Player of the Week for the week of November 13.
Dobrenz, a senior from Torrance, Calif., anchored the defense for a College of Charleston team that went 2-0 last week and clinched its sixth consecutive Southern Conference regular season title. The libero recorded 25 digs in the 3-1 win over Elon on Friday. She notched 21 digs and five assists in the 3-0 victory over UNC Greensboro on Saturday.
On the week, Dobrenz tallied 46 digs, seven assists and averaged 6.57 digs per game in two matches for the Cougars. She is among the league’s leaders in digs with a 5.84 digs per game average. This is the second Molten Volleyball Player of the Week honor for Dobrenz this season.
Other top performers include Appalachian State’s Carla Durham, Chattanooga’s Leslee Ball, Elon’s Juliena Gigon, Furman’s Courtney Stewardson, Georgia Southern’s Jennifer Charles and Western Carolina’s Liz Rondone.
