SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? The Southern Conference announced today that College of Charleston’s Jeremy Gold has been named the Men’s Soccer Player of the Week for October 3.

Gold, a senior from Euless, Texas, led the Cougars to two conference wins last week. The forward started the week with an unassisted goal in a 4-0 win over Wofford on September 27. Gold then recorded his second career hat trick in a 3-1 win over Davidson on September 30. He also recorded the game-winner in the match against the Wildcats.

Gold tallied eight points on four goals last week. He is only the fourth player in College of Charleston history to score a hat trick and is the only person to do it twice in a career. He was named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week on October 1 and leads the conference with 21 points and nine goals.

Other top performers from last week include Elon’s Nick Aparicio, Georgia Southern’s Brad Mitchum and UNC Greensboro’s Mike Richardson.
