SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? The Southern Conference announced today that College of Charleston’s Lindsey Kane has been named the Molten Volleyball Player of the Week for the week of October 23.

Kane, a junior setter from Dubuque, Iowa, helped the Cougars reclaim the top spot in the Southern Conference standings as College of Charleston went 2-0 last week.  She notched 34 assists, six kills, six digs and hit for a .625 clip in the 3-0 victory over Appalachian State on Saturday.   In action against Davidson she recorded 53 assists, five kills and two service aces in the Cougars 3-1 win on Sunday.  This is the second Molten Volleyball Player of the Week honor for Kane this season as she was named player of week for September 25.

On the week, Kane tallied 87 assists, 15 digs, 11 kills, five blocks and three service aces.  She is among the league’s leaders in assists average with 12.12.

Other top performers include Appalachian State’s Becca Norris, Chattanooga’s Jamie Engel, Davidson’s Liz Williamson, Elon’s Britany Westphal, Furman’s Nicole Palazzo, Georgia Southern’s Jennifer Charles, Western Carolina’s Liz Rondone and Wofford’s Joanna Suddath.
