SoCon Announces Runner of the Week

Jenna Wrieden? Appalachian State
Senior ? Glendale, Ariz. (Exercise Science Major)
Jenna won the Blue Ridge Open held on the new Don Kennedy cross country course at Appalachian’s State Farm fields. She covered the 5k course in a newly established course record of 17:54 and ranks her as the fifth best ASU cross country competitor on any ASU course. Appalachian won the team title in a field of eleven schools that included Vanderbilt and Milligan (ranked 10th in NAIA). Congratulations to Jenna Wrieden on winning this week’s SoCon female runner of the week.

Brittany Johnson, Fr, Furman (Cary, N.C. ? Green Hope HS)
Brittany finished sixth in a field of 125 runners at the Furman Invitational over the weekend in a time of 18:57. Schools participating included Central Florida, Clemson, South Carolina, Marshall and Wofford. Furman finished second in the team competition and Brittany is the first Lady Paladin to break 19 minutes on Furman’s course in the past two years.
