SoCon Announces Runner of the Week

Eric Albretch ? Furman University
Senior ? Atlanta, Ga. (Lakeside HS)
Eric Albretch finished 5th out of 131 runners in the Furman Invitational last weekend helping the team with a 3rd place finish out of 16 teams. He has led the Paladins in every race this season and his 26:13 time was his best finish ever on the Furman home course. Some schools that were competing were UNC, Clemson, and South Carolina. Congratulations to Eric Albretch on winning this week’s male SoCon runner of the week.
Other top performers:
Phil Mitchell, Fr (RS), Appalachian State (Glastonbury, Conn. ? Exercise Science Major) Mitchell finished ninth overall and was the fifth collegian (first among SoCon runners) in a field of 140. His time of 25:22 broke his ASU Record--for the new Don Kennedy Cross Country Course at State Farm Fields--by 50 seconds. He led the Mountaineers to a second place finish behind High Point University (ranked 12th in the Southeast Region). ASU beat SoCon rivals Western Carolina, UNCG and Elon.
