Western Carolina?s Shannon Fowkes Tabbed Women?s Soccer Player of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? The Southern Conference announced today that Western Carolina’s Shannon Fowkes has been named the Women’s Soccer Player of the Week for the week of October 10.

 

Fowkes, a freshman forward from Smithsburg, Md., led the Catamounts with three goals and a perfect record last week in conference action.  She recorded two goals, including the first of her collegiate career and the game winner, in the 3-2 win over Appalachian State on Thursday.  On the road against The Citadel on Sunday she tabbed one goal in the 6-0 victory.

 

On the week, Fowkes tallied six points on three goals in two conference matches for the Catamounts.  She is among the leagues leaders in game winning goals.

 

Other top performers include Appalachian State’s Carolina Lowe, College of Charleston’s Teryn Schuetz, Elon’s Alisa Petitt, Furman’s Anna Betton, Georgia Southern’s Jenni Boykin, UNC Greensboro’s Karla Davis and Wofford’s Whitney Steelman.
