Twelfth Night
The Chattanooga Lady Mocs have not seen the losing side of a box score since November 25. Wes Moore’s club is in the midst of one of the longest winning streaks in the nation after winning its 12th straight on Monday against Furman in Greenville. The 12-game winning streak places them tied for fifth in the nation with Indiana State, who ironically is one of the three teams to defeat the Lady Mocs in the 2005-06 season.
One McMoore Time
Elon’s Kitara McMoore commandeered her league-high third Player of the Week nod this week. The sophomore forward is leading the league in three critical categories, including points per game (15.5), rebounds per game (9.4) and field goal percentage (59 percent). McMoore has also compiled a league-best seven double-doubles in the 2005-06 season, including five consecutive.
Sharing Not In Vocabulary
With McMoore’s third Player of the Week accolade this week it remains that only two schools from the league have seen a player win Player of the Week honors - Chattanooga and Elon. A Chattanooga player has been chosen four times, with Alex Anderson (twice), Brooke Hand and Katasha Brown all earning the honor. McMoore is the only Elon player to earn the award.
Stick-to-itiveness
UNC Greensboro’s game on Monday against College of Charleston marked the 700th game for Lynne Agee at the helm of the Spartans’ program. Agee, who one week prior recorded her 525th win overall, has 97 career SoCon victories and with three more will join Wes Moore and Rusty Cram as the only head coaches to ever accomplish the feat in the league.
One Away
Furman’s Sam Dixon is only one win away from earning his 60th victory at Furman. Dr. Dixon during his four-year tenure at Furman has compiled a record of 59-43.
Not Sure Dorothy Was Right
While most teams in the SoCon would disagree, particularly Chattanooga and Davidson, Western Carolina probably does not buy into the old saying that there is no place like home. In fact, the Catamounts are winless on the year in the friendly confines of the Ramsey Center at 0-5.
