SPARTANBURG, SC -- The Southern Conference issued a public reprimand Wednesday, January 11, to College of Charleston Men’s Basketball Head Coach Tom Herrion for comments made regarding officiating following the Cougars’ loss to Georgia Southern Monday in Statesboro, GA.
"The Southern Conference has a formal policy that allows coaches to register their concerns about officiating," Interim Commissioner Geoff Cabe said. "The public criticism of game officials is contrary to this policy and will not be tolerated. The Southern Conference wholeheartedly embraces the ideals of collegiality and mutual respect for all individuals involved in the participation and administration of intercollegiate athletics. Everyone associated with the Conference must participate in promoting these values. Unfortunately, Coach Herrion failed to do so in this instance."
