SPARTANBURG, SC -- UNC Greensboro’s Randi Patterson has been named the Southern Conference’s men’s soccer Player of the Week for September 20.

A junior forward from Hackensack, NJ, Patterson notched a pair of goals and had an assist in UNC Greensboro’s two wins last weekend over then No. 23 UAB and Birmingham-Southern in the UAB Classic in Birmingham, AL. The two wins picked up by the Spartans garnered the team the UAB Classic title.

Patterson, who was named the tournament MVP, had one goal in UNCG’s 3-1 win over UAB and then followed that up with a goal and an assist in UNCG’s 3-0 win over Birmingham-Southern.

Patterson’s exploits on the week caught the attention of the national media, as the 2004 SoCon Player of the Year was named to the College Soccer News’ Team of the Week for the week ending September 18.

Other top performers on the week included College of Charleston’s Matt Morris, Davidson’s Ben Ashton, Elon’s Douglas Boateng, Georgia Southern’s Lawrence Smith and Wofford’s Brandon Lowery.
