SoCon Women's Soccer Player of the Week for September 13

SPARTANBURG, SC -- Appalachian State’s Casey Cleary has been named the Southern Conference’s women’s soccer Player of the Week for September 13.

A freshman forward from Wellington, FL, Cleary led the Mountaineers with two goals in a week that saw Appalachian take 2-1 victories over Radford and Charleston Southern to place the team in the midst of a four-game winning streak.

Cleary is also in the middle of a four-game streak of her own, having found the back of the net in the Mountaineers’ past four games to make the team 4-0 overall in games when she scores.

Cleary ended last week first in the Southern Conference in points (9), points per game (1.80), goals (4) and goals per game game (0.80).

Other top performers for the week included Chattanooga’s Bjork Gunnarsdottir, Davidson’s Kara Koehrn, Elon’s Emily Chesney, Georgia Southern’s Megan Macdonald, UNC Greensboro’s Jennifer Stillman, Western Carolina’s Natalie Turgeon and Wofford’s Jessica Connett.
