Wofford adds assistant coach

Wofford head women's soccer coach Amy Kiah has announced the hiring of Fields Brown as the program's assistant coach starting this fall.

"Fields brings a solid soccer background to the team," said Kiah. "He has been surrounded by top coaches from his experience of working at the North Carolina women's soccer camp with former U.S. National Team and current UNC mentor Anson Dorrance."

A native of Fuquay-Varina, N.C., Brown graduated in May 2005 with a bachelor's degree in history from UNC Wilmington. He played club soccer for the Seahawks.

In 2001, he played collegiately at Pfeiffer University before transferring to UNCW. As a freshman with the Falcons, the team posted eight victories and finished fourth in the Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference.

During the spring of 2003 and 2004, he coached challenge and competitive level club soccer teams in the Cape Fear Soccer Association.

"After working with coach Kiah at the UNC camps for the past few years, I'm eager to begin my collegiate coaching career with her," said Brown. "The atmosphere surrounding the college and team is something I like. Everything is very positive. I'm excited to help out the program as much as possible."

Brown will work his fourth-consecutive North Carolina women's soccer camp this summer.

Wofford will kick off its seventh season under Kiah this fall starting with preseason practice in August. The Terriers begin the campaign Aug. 26 at Samford and will host High Point Sept. 2 in the home opener at Snyder Field.
