Women's Indoor Track and Field 2/8/2005 1:15:00 PM Southern Conference SoCon Names Indoor Track and Field Performers of the Week for Wednesday, Feb. 9 MenThe Southern Conference today named Chris Martin from Appalachian State as the Men's Indoor Track and Field Performer of the Week for his accomplishments on February 5 at the East Tennessee State University Indoor Meet at the Memorial Center in Johnson City, TN.Martin, a senior from Charlotte, NC, won both the 60 meter and 200 meter dashes with Southern Conference Performance Ranking leading times of 6.90 and 21.90.Appalachian State returns to competition Feb. 10 as it hosts the Valentine Open in the Holmes Convocation Center for a mid-week event before the teams travel to the Clemson Invitational Feb. 12.WomenThe Southern Conference today named Raquel Ramseur from Western Carolina University as the Women's Indoor Track and Field Performer of the Week for her accomplishments on February 5 at the East Tennessee State University Indoor Meet at the Memorial Center in Johnson City, TN.Ramseur, a freshman from Charlotte, NC, won the 200 meters (24.84), 400 meters (56.30), and was a part of the 4 x 400 relay (56.1 split) that also took first place. Ramseur set a personal record in both the 200 meters and 60 meters with times of 24.84 and 7.74. She is currently ranked at the top of the Southern Conference Performance Rankings in the 200, 400 and 4 x 400 relay. WCU's track & field teams return to action this Saturday, February 12 at the Tiger Indoor Invitational in Clemson, S.C. The Catamounts set five season-bests two weeks ago at the Clemson Championships.
