Women's Indoor Track and Field Southern Conference

SoCon Names Indoor Track and Field Performers of the Week for Wednesday, Feb. 16

Men
The Southern Conference today named Steven Kocsis from Chattanooga as the Men's Indoor Track and Field Performer of the Week for his accomplishments on February 12 at the Iowa State Classic indoor meet in Ames, IA.

Kocsis, a senior from Princeton, Ontario, Canada, finished fifth in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 14:14.83. His time leads the Southern Conference Performance Rankings in the event and provisionally qualifies him for the NCAA Indoor Championships. Kocsis, a two-time Performer of the Week, also broke his own school by over 26 seconds.

Chattanooga returns to competition February 18-19 as it competes at the Tennessee Invitational in Knoxville, TN.

Women
The Southern Conference today named Paula Moore from Appalachian State University as the Women's Indoor Track and Field Performer of the Week for her accomplishments on February 12 at the Tiger Invitational at Clemson, SC.

Moore, a senior from Graham, NC, placed sixth in the long jump with a leap of 18' 5.75" and second in the triple-jump with a distance of 39' 3". Her distances are currently good for fourth position in the Southern Conference Performance Rankings for both the long jump and triple jump. Moore is the second Mountaineer to garner the Performer of the Week honor this indoor season.

Appalachian hosts a mid-week running only event on February 17 as a final tune-up before the Southern Conference Championships hosted by East Tennessee State at the Memorial Center on February 25-26 in Johnson City, TN.
