Three SoCon Men's Soccer Players Earn NSCAA/adidas All-American Honors

Scott Jones’ second-straight All-American nod and inaugural first-team appearance highlighted the three Southern Conference selections on the NSCAA/adidas All-American teams that were announced on Friday by the NSCAA.

Tournament and regular-season co-champion UNC Greensboro also placed Randi Patterson (second team) on the All-America team, while counterpart and the Spartans’ co-champion in the conference regular season in Davidson earned the other spot on one of the three teams, as defender John Latting earned second team plaudits.

Jones, a second-team member on the All-America team in 2004, was the stalwart for the Spartans in the midfield in 2005, earning first-team All-SoCon honors after a season that saw him finish first in the league in assists with 14. Patterson, a first-team All-America in 2004 and the reigning two-time SoCon Player of the Year, led the Southern Conference in goals this past season with 18 accumulated. Patterson’s efforts placed him fifth in NCAA Division I soccer in goals per game, with the Hackensack, NJ native racking up almost two goals (1.91) per game.

Latting ends his prolific career with the Wildcats by earning his first All-American spot. Latting, a native of Birmingham, AL, earned his second consecutive All-South honor on Thursday and joined rare company in November when he was named All-SoCon for the third year in a row.
