Chattanooga sophomore Alex Anderson has been selected as the Baden Southern Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for December 6.

A guard/forward from Stone Mountain, GA, Anderson averaged 17 points and 11 rebounds per game in wins last week over Alabama-Birmingham and Auburn. Anderson had argurably one of the best games of her intercollegiate career thus far in the Lady Mocs’ win over the Blazers last Wednesday, scoring 18 points and registering a career-high four blocks.

Anderson recorded her first double-double of the 2005-06 season in Chattanooga’s 72-59 win over the SEC’s Auburn last Sunday, tallying a career-best 14 rebounds to go along with her 16 points against the Tigers. Anderson also garnered a season-high three steals in the contest.

Only a sophomore, Anderson’s five blocks last week left her with 50 for her career, good enough for third all-time in the Chattanooga record book.

Other top performers last week include College of Charleston’s Nikki Williams (career-high 15 points in win over Stetson), Georgia Southern’s Nicole Newton (17 points per game, including 16 in win over South Carolina), UNC Greensboro’s Kristen Boone (16 points, six steals and five assists in win over West Virginia) and Wofford’s Mary Jo Yee (19 points in win over Gardner-Webb).
