SPARTANBURG, SC -- The Southern Conference today named Western Carolina women’s soccer player Alesha Row as the TIAA-CREF Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of November 9.
A junior goalkeeper from Fargo, ND, Row led the fourth-seeded Catamounts to their first ever women’s soccer crown, securing two shutout victories over the top two seeds in the tournament along the way.
Row garnered seven saves in both the semifinals and finals of the 2005 SoCon tournament and made several diving stops to preserve the 1-0 championship match victory over Furman. In total, Row mustered 15 saves in the tournament, earning the 2005 SoCon Women’s Soccer Championship Most Valuable Player award.
In the classroom, Row is a criminal justice major, boasting a 3.655 grade point average.
