SPARTANBURG, SC - One day after garnering their first SoCon championship in the seven-year history of their program, the Western Carolina Catamounts (18-5, 6-4 SoCon) learned of their first-round destination in their first ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament after solidifing one of the NCAA’s 30 automatic bids in the 64-team field.

The Catamounts will take to the pitch on Friday, Nov. 11 against 17-time National Champion North Carolina in Chapel Hill, NC., looking to acquire one of the largest upsets in tournament history. Kickoff is slated for 5 p.m.

Virginia Commonwealth and Clemson will square off against one another in the other portion of the Chapel Hill site.

Western Carolina, the No. 4 seed in the 2005 SoCon Women’s Soccer Championship, earned the league’s automatic bid with a 1-0 win over second-seeded Furman in the championship game of the tournament held on the campus of Furman University at Stone Stadium.
