SPARTANBURG, SC -- The 2005 Southern Conference Women’s Soccer Championship will be contested on Sunday, November 6 at Stone Stadium in Greenville, SC on the campus of Furman University.

Second-seeded Furman will square off against the fourth-seeded Western Carolina Catamounts at 1 p.m.

Furman (14-5-2, 7-1-2) advanced to the championship match through their 1-0 overtime win over UNC Greensboro on Friday night. Rachel Fry picked up the goal for the Paladins, heading the ball into the back of the net at the 99:30 mark.

Western Carolina (17-5, 6-4) advanced to the championship match after deposing of regular-season champion Davidson in the semifinals. Meghan Reilly led the charge for the Catamounts in the win, tallying the first goal and picking up an assist on the insurance goal in the 82nd-minute.

Furman, the 2004 SoCon tournament champions, will be trying to pick up their third tournament championship in the last four years, while Western Carolina will be trying to garner their first Southern Conference championship in the history of the program.
