SPARTANBURG, SC - Elon sophomore Kitara McMoore has been selected as the Baden Southern Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for November 29.

A forward from Virginia Beach, Va., McMoore has averaged 15.5 points per game in the Phoenix's first four games of the 2005-06 season and has acquired 27 rebounds along the way as well to sit with an average of 6.7 rebounds per outing. The numbers leave McMoore as Elon's leader in scoring and rebounding.

McMoore averaged 16 points and eight rebounds a game in Elon's first two games of the season, both wins over rival North Carolina A&T and NCAA Division III institution Guilford.

Last week, McMoore averaged 13.5 points per game and 5.5 rebounds per contest in the Phoenix's two games in the National City Xavier Invitational in Cincinnati, Ohio. Her efforts earned her all-tournament accolades at the tourney.

Other top performers last week include Appalachian State's Whitney Tossie (12.5 ppg, 4.67 steals per game), College of Charleston's Melissa Chambers (14.0 ppg, 5.3 rpg), Davidson's Jessica Mitchell (23 points in loss to Wake Forest), Furman's Chrissy Phelps ( 13.7 ppg, 18-for-18 from the free throw line), UNC Greensboro's KaLeah Latham (12.3 ppg, 5.3 rpg), Western Carolina's Lauren Powell (15.5 ppg) and Wofford's Nakia Mister (18.5 ppg in wins last week over North Carolina A&T and Southern Virginia).
