Davidson’s Liz Williamson has been named the Molten Southern Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the week of November 14.
Williamson, a junior outside hitter from Austin, TX, garnered player of the accolades after leading the Wildcats to a 2-0 record on the week. In those two matches, Williamson hit a .362 composite and recorded 33 kills and 21 digs in wins over Wofford and Furman. In Friday’s victory over the Paladins, Williamson tallied a match-high 17 kills on 33 swings for a hitting percentage of .364, helping the Wildcats record a team hitting percentage of .321. Williamson was also solid in Saturday’s victory over the Terriers as she earned her 13th double-double of the season with 16 kills and 14 digs.
Overall, Williamson averaged 5.5 kills and 3.5 digs per game on the week and leads the team in kills (433) while ranking second on the team in digs (311).
Davidson will open play in the Southern Conference Volleyball Championships on Friday as the No.5 seed and face No.4 seed Chattanooga in a quarterfinal match set for 10 a.m.
Other top performances this week: Stefanie Panzer of Appalachian State (27 kills and 12 blocks in two matches), Rebecca Wieters of the College of Charleston, (15 kills and 11 digs in 3-0 win over Georgia Southern), Leslee Ball of Chattanooga (35 kills and 13 digs in three matches), Juliena Gigon of Elon (recorded 47 kills and 43 digs in three matches), Emily Harby of Furman (averaged 3.38 kills per game in two matches), and Emily Overby of UNC Greensboro (recorded 46 kills and 49 digs in three matches).
