SPARTANBURG, SC -- Elon goalkeeper Taylor Saxe has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 4, the league announced today.
Saxe, a junior from Charlotte, NC, posted a 0.41 GAA in 217:12 minutes of action in two contests last week. He opened the week by making two saves and also assisted on the game-tying goal at the end of regulation against Appalachian State. Saxe then registered five saves in helping the Phoenix to a 1-0 double overtime win at Furman.
Other nominations for the week include College of Charleston’s Scott Milroth (game-winning goal vs. Appalachian State), UNC Greensboro’s Scott Jones (3 assists in win over Georgia Southern) and Wofford’s Joey Taylor (1.00 GAA and nine saves in two contests).
