The Molten Southern Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for Oct. 3

SPARTANBURG, SC ? Amanda Timmers has been named the Molten Southern Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 3.

Timmers, a senior outside hitter from Appleton, WI, led the Cougars to a 2-0 record on the week to improve the College of Charleston to 14-1, its best start since 1996 . Timmers averaged 5.17 kills and 4.17 digs, while hitting .426 in Southern Conference action this past week; numbers that topped her season averages in each category. She recorded a total of 31 kills in two matches, including matching a season-high with 17 kills against Western Carolina. Timmers, who has already been named Player of the Week once this season, also tallied a total of 25 digs to round out her impressive numbers on the week.

The College of Charleston will travel to Appalachian State on Oct. 7 and to Davidson on Oct. 8 looking to extend its winning streak to eight games.

Other Top Performers This Week: Brittany Thompson of Wofford (29 kills and 14 digs this past week), Stefanie Panzer of Appalachian State ( season-high nine blocks in a 3-0 win over UNC Greensboro), Lara Newberry of Chattanooga (career-high 39 digs against Western Carolina and averaged 7.8 digs in the five-game match), Jenna Dykstra of Davidson (averaged 10.2 assists, 2.3 kills, and 3.3 digs in two wins), and Danielle Spitzerof Western Carolina (averaged 2.2 kills and 1.1 blocks in three matches last week).
