SPARTANBURG, SC -- Furman goalkeeper Andie Hinshaw has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 25, the league announced today.
Hinshaw, a senior from Raleigh, NC, recorded three shutouts in three games last week to help lead the Lady Paladins to a 2-0-1 record. In the three games, Hinshaw tallied nine saves in 290 minutes between the pipes, which included a week-closing 0-0 home draw with rival Wofford.
In the tie with Wofford, Hinshaw, the SoCon’s all-time leader in shutouts with 34, garnered her school-record ninth shutout of the season and her fourth consecutive clean sheet. The four straight matches and the 421 minutes without surrendering nary a goal are both Furman records.
Other nominations for the week include College of Charleston’s Kristin Rhyne (three goals in wins over Charleston Southern and The Citadel), Chattanooga’s Diana Jallo (two goals in win over Appalachian State), Davidson’s Kara Koehrn (two goals in tie with UNCG) Elon’s Alisa Petitt (three goals in wins over The Citadel and Georgia Southern), UNC Greensboro’s Cara Hammond (one goal in tie with Davidson), Western Carolina’s Lauren Atkinson (two goals in win over Chattanooga) and Wofford’s Bernie Sikes (0.31 GAA in two matches last week).
