Chattanooga 3, Appalachian State 0
CHATTANOOGA, TN - Senior forward Diana Jallo netted a pair of goals in Chattanooga’s 3-0 win over Appalachian State Friday afternoon at the North River Soccer Complex as UTC celebrated “Senior Day”.
Junior Melyna Valdez sent a pass to the center of the box to a waiting Jallo who sent the shot into the left corner of the goal past outstretched keeper Megan Amorosi at the 29:41 giving UTC a 1-0 lead. With a minute-and-a-half to go in the first half, Maya Peel gave the Lady Mocs some breathing room with her fourth goal of the season at 43:30 spreading the lead out 2-0.
In the second half, Jallo put some English on a shot she fired off from 30 yards out that ricocheted off Amorosi and over her into the goal to stretch out Chattanooga’s lead to 3-0. That marked the first multi-goal game this season for Chattanooga’s most prolific scorer.
Chattanooga’s Stacey Matthiessen continued her denial at the goal making two saves on corner kicks at the line. The Rialto, Calif., junior made eight saves and recorded her third shutout. Chattanooga has not allowed a goal at home in the last 270 minutes. The last score against the Lady Mocs at home was an overtime tally by Davidson in a 1-0 overtime contest on Sept. 25.
Elon 3, The Citadel 2
CHARLESTON, SC - Elon forward Alisa Petitt scored the game-winner with one minute remaining in overtime to slip past The Citadel 3-2 in Southern Conference women’s soccer action Friday night at Johnson Hagood Stadium.

Burke lobbed a ball over the Phoenix keeper from the top of the box for the score. Three minutes later, Elon tied it up again as Tina Longo fired one from 15 yards out unassisted.
The Bulldogs and Elon battled it out through the first overtime with the Phoenix finishing on top as Petitt settled a sharp pass from Emily Chesney for the game-winner with only one minute remaining. The victory marks the first Southern Conference win for the Phoenix this season.
“Though it was a heartbreaking loss, I could not be more proud of our team, particularly our seniors,” said head coach Chris Lenzo.
Elon and The Citadel each tallied 26 shots. The Dogs recorded two additional shots on goal with 14 compared to Elon’s 12. The two teams were also even in corner kicks on the evening with four apiece.

The Bulldogs recognized five seniors before the start of the game as Julie Austin, Miriam Crawford, Angie Ellenwood, Megan McAuliffe and Lauren Merchant each participated in their final home game of their careers. Each senior got the starting nod in the contest.
“I have never seen a team play that hard for each other,” commented Lenzo. “Today, our seniors left a permanent mark on the soccer program and I fell lucky to have been here to witness it.”
Western Carolina 1, College of Charleston 0
MT. PLEASANT, SC - A goal by Western Carolina late in the first half proved to be enough as the Catamounts defeated the College of Charleston, 1-0, in women's soccer action in front of 295 fans tonight at Patriots Point Field in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.
