SPARTANBURG, SC -- Davidson forward Kara Koehrn has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 18, the league announced today.

Koehrn, a senior from La Mesa, CA, followed a double hat-trick week from the previous week by recording two goals each in back-to-back wins last week to pick up her second straight SoCon Women’s Player of the Week honor. During the Wildcats contest with Furman on October 13, Koehrn found the back of the net twice in Davidson’s 3-0 league win over the Lady Paladins, which was the Wildcats’ first-ever win on the campus of Furman.

Koehrn, who has matriculated 10 goals in a little over two weeks, once again found her way between the pipes twice in the Wildcats’ 3-0 shutout win over Big South foe Winthrop. Koehrn was a part of every goal against the Eagles, picking up an assist in the contest as well.

Other nominations for the week include UNC Greensboro’s Shannon Donovan (one goal and assist in win over Georgia Southern),Western Carolina’s Lauren Atkinson (game-winning goal against Appalachian State in overtime) and Wofford’s Bernie Sikes (one goal allowed in 290 minutes between the pipes).
