Appalachian’s Stefanie Panzer honored as the Molten Southern Conference Volleyball Player of the Week.

SPARTANBURG, SC ? Appalachian State’s Stefanie Panzer has been selected as the Molten Southern Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the week of October 17.

Panzer, a senior middle blocker from Mount Gilead, NC, helped the Mountaineers to two road victories on the week. Panzer, the 2004 SoCon Volleyball Player of the Year, turned in two solid performances in wins at Furman and Wofford. Against the Paladins, Panzer tied a season-high with nine blocks in ASU’s 3-1 victory, while also recording 14 kills and three digs. Panzer then contributed nine kills, eight blocks and two digs in the Mountaineers’ 3-0 victory over the Terriers.

Panzer averaged 3.3 kpg and tallied 17 blocks on the week, for a 2.43 blocks- per- game average.

She also had a hitting percentage of .429 this past week and continues to lead the Southern Conference with a .371 hitting percentage on the season.

Appalachian State will return to home for three matches this week as Georgia Southern will visit the Holmes Center on Oct.18 for the first of three matches in the friendly confines.

Other top performances this week: Lindsey Galloway of Chattanooga (tallied 26 kills and 17 digs in two Chattanooga victories last week), Brittany Westphal of Elon ( tallied 45 kills and 22 digs in three matches), Chibuzo Aguocha of Furman ( averaged 4.7 kills per game and registered 57 kills in three matches), Hilary Overby of UNC Greensboro (recorded 26 kills and 14 digs in three matches), Meredith Harmon of Western Carolina (recording a hitting percentage of .327 in three matches and averaged 2.9 kpg), and Brittany Thompson of Wofford (averaged 4.75 kpg and recorded 30 digs in two matches).
