Women's Indoor Track and Field Southern Conference

SoCon Names Indoor Track and Field Performers of the Week for Wednesday, Jan. 26

Men
The Southern Conference today named Anthony Greer from Appalachian State as the Men's Indoor Track and Field Performer of the Week for his accomplishments on January 21-22 at the Niswonger Invitational in Johnson City, TN.

Greer, a junior from Wilmington, NC, placed third in the shot put at the Niswonger Invitational with a throw of 54' 3.75". He also competed in the 35-pound weight throw and garnered sixth-place with a mark of 56' 5.75", which leads the conference. Greer earned top spot in the league in the shot-put as well with his throw of 55' 11.75" at the Appalachian Invitational on December 4.

Appalachian State will return to action this weekend as it hosts the Mountaineer Winter Open in Boone, NC. The two-day event will feature three SoCon men's teams in competion including East Tennessee State and Wofford.

Women
The Southern Conference today named Leslie Martin from Western Carolina University as the Women's Indoor Track and Field Performer of the Week for her accomplishments on January 21-22 at the Niswonger Invitational in Johnson City, TN.

Martin, a senior from Jonesville, VA, finished fifth in the 800 meters at the Niswonger Invitational with a time of 2:14.95. Martin also ran the lead leg (56.4) of the Catamounts 4 x 400 relay, which finished in third place with a time of 3:46.75.

Western Carolina will return to action this weekend at the Clemson Hepthathlon/Pentathlon Championships in Clemson, SC.
