Women's Indoor Track and Field 1/19/2005 8:10:00 AM Southern Conference SoCon Names Indoor Track and Field Performers of the Week for Wednesday, Jan. 19 MenThe Southern Conference today named Zach DiBois from The Citadel as the Men's Indoor Track and Field Performer of the Week for his accomplishments this past weekend at the University of North Carolina Fast Times Meet in Chapel Hill, N.C.DiBois, a sophomore from Cochran, GA, won the 35-pound weight throw with a mark of 49' 8.75". The toss was 4' 8.75" better than his previous personal best. His throw was also the second best-throw in the school's history behind the record of 52' 2" set in 1981. A two sport athlete, DiBois also plays center on the Bulldogs' football team.The Citadel will return to action this weekend at the Niswonger Foundation Track and Field Invitational hosted by East Tennessee State University. The event will take place Friday and Saturday in Johnson City, TN, at the Memorial Center. Over 80 teams are scheduled to compete in the two-day event, including schools from the ACC, SEC and Southern Conference.WomenThe Southern Conference today named Beverly Burnett from Appalachian State Univeristy as the Women's Indoor Track Performer of the Week for her accomplishments on December 4th at the Appalachian Invitational. Burnett, a junior from Graham, NC, won the shot put with a throw of 46' 5.5", setting a new track record at the Holmes Convocation Center at ASU and breaking the existing record by more than a foot. Burnett is a former state high school champion and record holder from Cumming High School.
