The Seahawks, playing their home opener after two road contests to kick off the season, posted their third consecutive 2-1 decision against an in-state team to remain unbeaten at 3-0. Elon dipped to 0-2-1.After Elon's Brett Paschall evened the score at 1-all on a penalty kick at 81:22, Karjalainen collected his third career goal from close range less than two minutes later after taking a pass from Sam Leger. Columb Grant was also credited with an assist on the goal.Leger staked the Seahawks to a 1-0 advantage at 27:55 when the junior connected after Russell Bienias headed the ball near the Elon goal mouth. It was Leger's 10th career goal.UNCW goalkeeper Brad Knighton had three saves, while Elon goalie Taylor Saxe also recorded three saves.Elon will return home Friday, September 10, as they North Carolina Wesleyan.
