Charleston Promotes Foxhall

Charleston, S.C. -- College of Charleston head baseball coach John Pawlowski has promoted Scott Foxhall to Associate Head Coach of the baseball team, it was announced on Tuesday. Foxhall begins his 10th season as a coach at the College of Charleston and sixth under Pawlowski.

"Coach Foxhall has done more for the College of Charleston, the baseball program and our student-athletes than anyone," said Pawlowski, who earned 2004 Southern Conference Coach-of-the-Year honors. "His tireless work and dedication to the success of our program has not gone unnoticed. It is because of this, that he has now been given the title of Associate Head Baseball Coach. He has certainly earned this and he is what the College of Charleston Baseball program is all about."

"The College of Charleston has been my home for a long time and I'm very proud to be coaching at the same great institution where I played and graduated," said Foxhall, who has also served as the school's baseball recruiting coordinator since 1999. "I'm very appreciative of the opportunities given to me by the College of Charleston and Coach Pawlowski. I look forward to working hard and helping our baseball program continue to get better every day."

In 2004, Foxhall helped Charleston to a 47-16 overall record, a 25-5 conference mark, a No. 29 ranking by Collegiate Baseball magazine, the school's first Southern Conference championship and NCAA Regional appearance.

Charleston's 47 overall wins and 25 league victories were the most in Southern Conference history. The Cougars finished second in the Baton Rouge Regional reaching "Championship Sunday" against top-seed LSU after wins over Army and Southern Mississippi.

Foxhall helped guide a very young but talented corps of Cougar pitchers to a 4.35 team ERA in 2004. Opponents hit a Southern Conference-low .268 against Charleston hurlers. The Cougars also led the SoCon with five shutouts and 19 saves.

Foxhall tutored the 2004 Southern Conference Pitcher of the Year in senior Ryan Johnson. Johnson posted a 12-0 record and a 3.40 ERA. Sophomore closer Brett Harker led the SoCon with a school-record 13 saves.

Here's a list of Cougar accomplishments during Foxhall's coaching tenure: 12 professional players, two SoCon Players of the Year, one SoCon Pitcher of the Year and Freshman of the Year, 29 all-conference selections, nine SoCon all-tournament team members, 10 All-American honorees, three Freshman All-Americans and six Academic All-Americans.

Foxhall, 33, was a three-time letter winner for the Cougars from 1992-94. He's among the school's all-time leaders in strikeouts (156), games started (28), complete games (9) and innings pitched (193.2).

The Greer, S.C. native earned a degree in Education from the College of Charleston. He's the brother of former Cougar infielder Joey Foxhall (1996-99).
