Women's Soccer 8/10/2004 9:41:00 AM Southern Conference Furman Set For Preseason Practice GREENVILLE, S.C. - The Furman women's soccer team reports to campus today to begin preseason preparations for the 2004 campaign. The Lady Paladins, who welcome back nine starters from a team that finished with a 15-5-2 overall record and Southern Conference regular season title in 2003, open training Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. Head coach Brian Lee and the Lady Paladins kickoff the regular season on August 27, at Auburn before returning home to battle South Carolina on August 31, in a 7:00 p.m. contest at Eugene Stone III Soccer Stadium. "We are excited to have everyone back on campus and ready to begin preparing for a new season," said Lee. "This year's schedule is especially challenging and we will need to be focused and ready to compete from day one." Along with with Auburn and South Carolina, Furman's 2004 schedule features matches against Clemson, Kansas, Duke and defending national champion North Carolina. The Lady Paladins open Southern Conference play on September 24, at rival UNC Greensboro before playing the SoCon home opener on October 1, versus The Citadel. Furman returns five players who garnered first team All-SoCon honors a year ago including April Raymer, Andie Hinshaw, Nicky Darling, Kat Kelley and 2003 SoCon Player-of-the-Year Andre'a Morrison.
