Wofford Adds Kerns To Coaching Staff

SPARTANBURG, SC -- The Wofford men's basketball program has announced the hiring of Dustin Kerns as an assistant coach.

Kerns served as a graduate assistant under Buzz Peterson this past season at the University of Tennessee. The Volunteers advanced to the NIT while being one of just six Division I teams, and the only Southeastern Conference squad, without a scholarship senior on the roster.

Kerns was the director of basketball operations at Tennessee Tech in the 2002-03 campaign.

A 2002 graduate of Clemson, Kerns worked with Larry Shyatt and the Tiger men's basketball program during his time as an undergraduate.

Kerns holds a Master's degree in sports management from Tennessee in 2004.

"We're very excited to have Dustin join our staff," Wofford coach Mike Young said. "He has acquired a great deal of experience under some quality coaches that I respect very much.

"Dustin will assist us in all areas of the game and I believe our players and the Wofford community will respond positively to him. He is a great fit."

Kerns is a native of Kingsport, Tenn. He was a Team Captain for the very successful Dobyns-Bennett High School basketball program which is the nation's second all-time winningest prep team in number of victories.
