Baseball 6/15/2004 7:13:00 PM Southern Conference Campbell, Chigges Named Freshmen All-America College of Charleston second baseman Chris Campbell and right-handed pitcher Nick Chigges have been named to the 2004 Louisville Slugger Freshmen All-American team as chosen by Collegiate Baseball newspaper. Campbell, from Jacksonville, Fla., was also selected the Southern Conference Freshman of the Year by the league's coaches. Campbell played in 57 games and hit .322 with five homers and a team-leading and school freshman record 63 RBI. He added a team-high 22 doubles. Campbell, who was named to the Baton Rouge NCAA All-Regional team, earned second team All-SoCon honors. Chigges, from Columbia, S.C., was 5-1 with three saves and a 3.56 ERA in 30 appearances out of the bullpen. He record 53 strikeouts in 60 2/3 innings. He picked up a save in CofC's first-ever NCAA Regional win in a 2-1 decision over Army in Baton Rouge.
