Wildcats Bring Home Three First-Place Finishes at Furman Invitational

GREENVILLE, S.C. - The Davidson track and field squads brought home three first-place finishes and numerous other top-three showings at the Furman Invitational Saturday afternoon.

On the women's side, senior Amanda Yeck tied for first place in the high jump. Two Wildcat performers finished in the top three of the 5,000 meter run. Junior Sally Stanhope placed second with a time of 19:18.16 while sophomore Carissa Skrivanek was right behind at 19:24.80. Skrivanek also placed second in the steeplechase.

In the 1,500 meters, junior Ashley Griffith crossed the finish line in second place at 4:53.10. Meanwhile, sophomore Jamie Glenn (:13.10) wound up second in the 200 meters while senior Kate Wilson (1:00.30) notched a third in the 400 meters.

Two men tallied first-place finishes for Davidson - senior Andrew Pratt in the 400 meters and freshman David Ritchie in the 400-meter hurdles. Pratt (:50.50) edged out Furman's Luke Gittemeier by one-tenth of a second to earn the win in his event. Freshman John Bialas finished third in the 400 meters, one second behind Pratt at :51.60. Ritchie (:54.50) defeated six other competitors to take first in the 400-meter hurdles.
