Yeck and Ritchie Lead Davidson at Elon Invitational

ELON, N.C. -- The Davidson track & field teams competed today at the Elon Invitational. Senior Amanda Yeck's first-place finish in the high jump highlighted the Wildcats' efforts on the day.

Yeck tied for first in the high jump with a leap of 1.53 meters, the same height as Furman's Lois Montague. In the 1500 meters, the women showed their distance depth as sophomore Allie Martin and junior Ashley Griffith took second and third places respectively.

The men turned in solid performances as well. Freshman David Ritchie continued to build upon his impressive rookie campaign, taking second in the 400 meter hurdles and third in the 400 meter dash. His time of 49.10 in the 400 meters was one second faster than his season best. Senior Greg Scott came home with a runner-up finish as well. His time of 1:55.09 in the 800 was also a season-best time. Junior Nick Lehman finished third in the 1500 meters while sophomores Jonathan Baker and Austin Mercadante were third and fourth respectively in the 5000.

The Wildcats return to familiar territory for their next meet. Davidson hosts the annual Irwin Belk Invitational next weekend on Saturday, April 24.
