Terriers close road schedule at Furman Wednesday

With two matches remaining, the Wofford men's tennis team will close its road slate with a 3:30 p.m. match Wednesday at Furman in Greenville, S.C. The contest was originally slated for 2:30 but was pushed back an hour due to potential weather conditions continuing in the Upstate.

The Terriers enter the match with an 8-10 overall record, matching their highest win total for a single season since joining the Southern Conference. Wofford also attained the eight-win plateau a year ago. With one more victory, the squad will tie the school record for most wins since joining the Division I ranks.

"This should be a great match," said head coach Rod Ray. "Furman is a great program with players throughout the lineup. They are well coached and we expect them to play hard.

"Our focus is on our side. We played well against UNC Asheville and believe we can be successful with a team effort."

A pair of seniors lead the Terriers. Co-captain Brandon Smith owns a 15-3 overall record, including a perfect 8-0 mark in league play. Kent Ball has posted an 11-6 overall mark thus far this spring to stand as the second player with double-digit victories.
