Davidson Announces 2004 Schedule

DAVIDSON, N.C. - The Davidson women's soccer team recently announced its schedule for the 2004 season. Highlighted among a strong Southern Conference field are four 2003 NCAA Tournament participants. The season starts with a home contest against cross-county rival Charlotte and is capped with the SoCon Tournament, to be held at UNC Greensboro for the second straight year.

Following the Aug. 29 season opener against the 49ers, Davidson will head west to face San Diego State and UC Riverside during the first weekend of September. League play kicks off early as the 'Cats go to Boone, N.C., to battle Appalachian State on Sept. 8. Three of the Wildcats' next five opponents earned bids to the tournament last year, including High Point, Wake Forest and Duke.

The conference season gets in full swing on the first day of October, when Davidson hosts Chattanooga. The Wildcats also have home league games against Western Carolina (Oct. 6), The Citadel (Oct. 13), Furman (Oct. 17) and Wofford (Oct. 20). Davidson will close the regular season on a three-game road swing before heading to the SoCon Tournament on Nov. 4.
