Furman 6, Georgia Southern 1

STATESBORO, Ga. -- Furman captured five of six singles matches and took the
doubles point with a pair of wins on the way to a 6-1 Southern Conference
victory over Georgia Southern Sunday afternoon at the Hanner Courts.

The Eagles' lone singles win was a three-set triumph by Danie van den
Heever over Ben Pauluhn at the No. 4 slot. The Paladins got singles
victories from John Chesworth at the No. 1 position (6-2, 6-3 over Doruk
Baglan), Patrick Fillnow at No. 2 (3-6, 6-4, 6-2 vs. Vincent Patry), Allen
Simmons at No. 3 (6-2, 6-3 against Lasha Janashia), Brian Crook at No.5
(6-2, 6-2 over Charles-Henri Trottet) and Kevin Lackey at No. 6 (6-4, 6-4
vs. Stephen Dubienski).

Furman (8-9, 4-0 SoCon) used doubles wins from Chesworth/Fillnow (9-7) and
Crook/Simmons (8-3) over Patry/van den Heever and Tom Green/Germano Knorr,
respectively. The Eagles posted their only doubles conquest at the No. 2
slot when the tandem of Baglan/Janashia cruised past Will Kieffer/Greg
Maarschalk 8-4.

Georgia Southern (6-16, 1-6 SoCon), which has dropped seven straight
matches, will be back in action Friday, April 2, traveling to Davidson for
a 2:00 p.m., SoCon match against Wildcats.
