Lady Terrier golf team in 11th after day one in Birmingham

After day one of competition at the Samford Intercollegiate in
Birmingham, Ala., the Lady Terrier golf team is 11th out of 18 schools
at the Timberline Golf Course.

Leading the Wofford pack is freshman Laura Parris, who posted
back-to-back nine-hole scores of 40 to finish with an 80 (+9) and tie
for 18th among the individuals.

Teammate Laura Robinson is one shot back of Parris at 40-41--81
(+10) but is among seven shooters tied for 29th. Lauren Stephenson is
one shot back of Robinson with an 11-over, 44-38--82 and a tie for 39th.

Keeping the Lady Terriers in the hunt was Chris Sprinkle with a
44-41--85 (+14) to tie for 57th and Amber Franks with a 46-47--93 (+22)
in 88th place.

Wofford will finish the two-day tournament tomorrow and will
shoot to catch tournament leader Jacksonville State.

Cougars Ninth after First Round of Lady Seahawk Invitational

Wallace, N.C. The College of Charlestons 325 after the first round, which put the womens golf team in ninth place, is only four shots outside of the top five of the Lady Seahawk Invitational being held Monday and Tuesday at River Landing Country Club in Wallace, N.C. Host school UNC Wilmington leads the event with a 309, while Campbell follows closely behind with a 310.

James Madison is fifth with a 321 and just below is a three-way tied for sixth with a 324.

The second round, also started today, was suspended due to darkness and will resume Tuesday morning just before the third round.

James Madisons Carol Green and UNC Wilmingtons Amelia Farrah both lead the event with a 74 each.

Leading the Cougars is Brenda McLarnon, whose 78 is good enough for a tie at 12th. Tied for 16th is Angie Hill with her 79 and tied for 34 is Sapna Patel with a first-round total of 82. Amber Kuss is tied for 50th with an 86 and tied for 57th is Gretchen Zoeller with her 87. Competing as individuals are Jenn Bellso and Kelley Groff who shot an 80 and 82, respectively, after 18 holes.
