Furman Relay Teams Shatter Four School Records At Clemson

Clemson, South Carolina -- The Furman track team opened the 2004 outdoor
season by setting new school standards in the women's 800m, women's
6,000m, men's 3,200m and men's 6,000m relays this weekend at the Clemson
Relays.
Katie Poole, Molly Mungovan, Meghan Isaacs and Tessa Cook combined to take
first place and set a Lady Paladin record in the 6,000m with a time of
19:57.02. The foursome's time shattered the old mark of 20:12.00 set in
2001.
Kristen Edgar, Autumn Sullivan, Trina Small and Candii Woodson teammed up
to claim a second place finish and new school record in the 800m relay.
Their record time of 1:43.48 topped the previous record of 1:46.16 set in
2000.
On the men's side, Furman placed third in both the 3,200m and 6,000m
relays with times of 8:00.08 and 16:20.85 respectively. The 3,200m relay
team of Chris DeCamps, Jamie Bach, Matthew Goodwin and Tyler Johnson broke
the school record of 8:03.87 that had stood for ten years. The 6,000m
relay team(DeCamps, Kevin Crosby, Eric Albrecht, Johnson) were almost
three seconds better than the previous school record set in 2001. Crosby,
a senior, was a member of the 2001 relay team.
Furman also claimed second place finishes in the women's 4x100m relay,
4x800m relay and distance medley.
Junior Carly Smith registered a second place showing in the 5,000m with a
time of 18:41.35.
Furman returns to action this coming weekend when the Paladins and Lady
Paladins travel to Atlanta, Ga., for the Emory Relays.
