College of Charleston 6, Southern Mississippi 1

Mt. Pleasant, SC The College of Charleston took five of six singles matches and two of three doubles matches to ease past Southern Mississippi, 6-1, this afternoon in mens tennis action at Patriots Point in Mt. Pleasant, SC.

The College of Charleston improves to 10-5 on the year, while Southern Mississippi falls to 4-9.

Or Dekel, ranked 91st in the nation, defeated David Canudas in straight sets 6-1, 6-1, while Marc Lux retired early to give Timo Siebert the victory at the number two singles. Third singles belonged to Bastian Moldehnke, who took the 6-2, 6-2 win over Christopher Rea. Arthur Peller defeated Juan Garzon 6-2, 6-2, while Reid Bourgeois picked up the lone win for Southern Mississippi with a 3-6, 6-4, 10-5 three-set win over Phillip Koller. Cougar Liran Kling used three sets to take the victory over Dylan Mezey at the number six singles 5-7, 6-2, 10-1.

The duo of Arthur Peller/Timo Seibert took the number one doubles with the 8-0 win over David Canudas/Dylan Mezey while Phillip Koller/Or Dekel defeated Thomas Funke/Juan Garzon 8-5. Reid Bourgeois/Christopher Rea took the third doubles match with the 8-4 victory over Cougars Liran Kling and Bastian Moldenhke.

The College of Charleston travels to Wofford Mar. 26th for a 10:00 AM match while Southern Mississippi goes up the road to Coastal Carolina Mar. 18th.

TAMPA, Fla. -- The South Florida Bulls, ranked No. 36 in this week's
Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) poll, recorded victories in all
six singles matches and captured the doubles point with wins in two of
three matches on the way to a 7-0 non-conference victory against Georgia
Southern Wednesday afternoon at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts.

The Eagles (6-12) posted their only triumph of the afternoon in the No.2
doubles match as Doruk Baglan and Lasha Janashia outlasted Federico Barton
and Andy Maroldt for an 8-6 win.

The Bulls (8-3) won the first four singles matches in straight sets before
Charles-Henri Trottet (6-0, 4-6, 7-5) and Tom Green (6-3, 5-7, 10-2) forced
a third set before falling in the No. 5 and No. 6 slots.

The Eagles will continue their four-match Florida trip Friday, facing
Florida Atlantic in Boca Raton in a contest scheduled for 1:00 p.m.

Wake Forest 5, Furman 2

GREENVILLE, SC -- The Furman men's tennis team took on yet another ranked team when No. 46 Wake Forest visited Mickel Tennis Center Wednesday afternoon. The Paladins battled hard, but fell 5-2 to the Demon Deacons. With the loss the Paladins move to 4-8 on the year, while Wake Forest improves to 7-5.

The Demon Deacons came out strong winning all three doubles matches to capture the first point of the day. Wake Forest then took a 3-0 advantage with victories at the No.5 and No. 6 slot. Furman put their first point on the board, when Patrick Fillnow downed David Loewenthal 6-3, 6-3 in the No.2 slot. In No.1 singles action Furman's John Chesworth lost a tough match to Todd Paul 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 and Paladin Ben Pauluhn dropped a close match to Brett Ross 4-6, 7-6, 6-1 in the No. 4 slot. The final Paladin victory came when Allen Simmons battled back to beat No. 83 Andrew Hamar 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 in No. 3 singles.

The Paladins travel to Atlanta on Saturday to take on Georgia Tech at 1:00 PM.
