UNCG Wrestling travels to Chattanooga on Saturday

The UNC Greensboro wrestling team (4-4, 1-1 SoCon) travels to Chattanooga for a key SoCon clash on Saturday. Match time is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Maclellan Gym.

The Spartans are coming off wins over Anderson (31-12) and North Carolina (20-20, 1-0 tie breaker), January 31 in Fleming Gym. Spartan junior Kevin Artis, who recorded his 19th and 20th wins of the season last Saturday, helped the Spartans secure the win over the Tar Heels with his 24-9 technical fall victory of Rick Seibold. Artis is a perfect 8-0 in duals this season.

Chattanooga holds a 6-1 advantage in the series that dates back to the 1996-97 season. The lone Spartan victory over the Mocs was in the 1996-97 season when UNCG slipped past UTC, 22-19.

With a win over Chattanooga, the Spartans will have its best start in the SoCon since the 1999-2000 season

Chattanooga (7-5, 2-0 SoCon), who is ranked 25th in the nation by Wrestling International Newsmagazine, is coming off a 46-0 win over Davidson, and a 26-15 win over Duke in Davidson, NC last Saturday.

The Spartans will return to Fleming Gym to host ACC foe Duke, on Wednesday, Feb. 11 at 7 p.m.
