UNCG Wrestling Hosts ACC Foe Duke on Wednesday Night

The UNC Greensboro wrestling team (4-5, 1-2 SoCon) returns to the friendly confines of Fleming Gymnasium, to take on ACC-leader Duke.

UNCG is coming off a disappointing 32-13 loss to #25 Chattanooga on Saturday in Chattanooga. O.T. Johnson, John Kimble and Daren Burns picked wins for UNCG.

Duke holds a slim 5-4 advantage in the series that dates back to the 1993-94 season. Last season, the Blue Devils won the final two bouts of the match en route to a 23-19 victory over the Spartans. The last win for UNCG over Duke came back in the 1999-2000 season, when the Spartans defeated the Blue Devils, 25-12 in Fleming Gym.

Duke (6-5, 2-0 ACC), is coming off a 28-6 loss to Rutgers on Feb. 7. The Blue Devils have already faced SoCon foes The Citadel, Davidson and Chattanooga. Duke fell to The Citadel, 31-16 in Charleston and 26-15 to Chattanooga, before defeating Davidson, 35-7.

Sophomore 141-pounder Daniel Shvartsman leads Duke with 24 wins on the season. Sophomore Scott Doerr (157 lbs./165 lbs.) is the Blue Devils leader with eight pins.

The Spartans will travel to Norfolk, VA to take on Old Dominion and Maryland on Saturday, February 14.
