GEORGIA SOUTHERN 57, SAVANNAH STATE 43

SAVANNAH, Ga. Jessica Everett's 18 points and seven rebounds led the Lady Eagles to a 57-43 non-conference road victory over Savannah State Thursday night at Tiger Arena.

Georgia Southern (9-7) took the early lead, jumping out to a 15-9 advantage at the 9:14 mark. The Eagles used a 12 point first half performance from Kellie Tiller to give them the 27-21 advantage at the break. Tiller connected on 5-8 shots from the field, including 2-3 from three-point range.

The Eagles came out of the gates quickly in the second half, extending their lead to 14 at the 8:54 mark. Jessica Everett scored 16 of the Eagles 30 second half points, including the first eight of the half. Everett's twelfth point of the half came with 7:07 remaining when Nicole Newton used a half-court pass to give Everett the break-away layup, making the score 48-36. The Lady Tigers would cut the Eagles lead to seven on a Caroline Moore trey with 3:38 in the contest, but it would not be enough. The Eagles used the charity stripe to their advantage the down the stretch, as they connnected on five of six chances from the line over the last three minutes, making the final margin 57-43.

All 12 of Tiller's points came in the first half, while 16 of Everett's 18 points came in the second stanza. Everett was perfect from the free throw line, banking all four shots, and was seven for ten from the field on the night.

Adrienne Early and Everett each had seven rebounds to lead the Eagles, while Shawnica Hill and Kaylin Wells each dished out four assists.
The Lady Tigers were led by Kermetris Hill who had 15 points on the night, while Tiffany Stephens led the team with seven rebounds.

Georgia Southern returns to Hanner Fieldhouse for the first time since January 12 when they host Western Carolina Saturday, January 24 at 5:00 p.m.
