Volleyball 1/12/2004 7:28:00 AM Southern Conference CofC Announces 2004 Volleyball Schedule CHARLESTON, SC- Twelve home games at the Johnson Center including the CofC Invitational tournament highlight the 2004 College of Charleston volleyball schedule released today. The season gets underway on September 1st at Georgia. Following their match-up with the Bulldogs, the Cougars travel to Alabama to take on the Crimson Tide, Montana State and Xavier on September 3rd and 4th. The next weekend the Cougars take part in the UW Milwaukee tournament where they will face IUPUI, Saint Louis and the host Panthers. On September 17-18 the Cougars host the CofC Invitational in the Johnson Center. Charleston will host Duke, East Carolina and Georgia State. "I'm very excited about our schedule for next fall," said College of Charleston head coach Sherry Dunbar. "With a good nucleus of players returning and an outstanding recruiting class coming in, I felt like I wanted to really challenge our team. We have to prepare every match to win the conference championship and earn a trip to the NCAA Tournament and I think that this schedule can help us reach those goals." The Cougars start the Southern Conference regular season on September 22 at Georgia Southern. Charleston closes out the regular season on November 12th when they host the Citadel. The Southern Conference Tournament will take place on November 19-21, 2004. The Cougars captured the Southern Conference South Division co-championship in 2003 and finished the season with a 28-6 overall record and a 17-1 mark in conference. Charleston's 29-match winning streak this past season and it's current 29-match league winning streak at home are both SoCon records.
